I just might be a cynic.
I'll be more than happy when tomorrow finally America gets to vote. I don't want to hear any more Palin stories, akward self irony from the MacCains and no more pathetic hymns by Obama. There'll be change, the given corrective of the US political system is the "two terms and out"-rule, and that this is a good rule cannot be doubted. But it will not be all sunflowers and rainbows and cake from wednesday on, no matter who wins. And just watching Matt Damon pace up and down the country banging doors for a politician, that too had to twist and turn in order to get the approval of the most obscure groups of voters - makes me sad. I really think there are people who believe that there will be major changes. But there won't. The most powerful man of the world isn't all so powerful. It's (still!) banks and economy and all that crap. I just might be a cynic. Of course it will be a positive change if the americans elect an almost black man. Somedody so young too. Just stay sensible and don't expect soldiers to be home, taxes to be reduced and people to be healthier, richer and happily married to whomever they chose by next week. Or next year...
