...and if you're all about the destination take a fuckin flight

The new year! Things will improve! Horray.
Now serious. We're drowning in snow. Of course, if you happen to live in Alaska, or the north of Sweden. Or Finland. Or Siberia. You would laugh at me. If you are in Florida or even in Belgium you'll understand that 30cm of snow (that's about a foot, I think) can actually get you excited and force transportation and normal life to a standstill. I sit in nicely heated appartment and enjoy all the white and the change of light it brings. Happy that I decided to take the detour last night after work to go and pay my rent at the mechanical bank clerk. That's a term I just invented, I know. You get what I mean. The reverse-cash mchine, the thing where you put your money in in order to transfer it to someone else. Anyway. It was 10.30 pm, it was snowing and it was beautiful. ANd it saved me from the need to leave this place now. I can sit here, have a cup of tea and congratulate me on my forethought.
I read three Alice Munro stories yeterday. My first ones. I don't really know why I used to shy away from her. Well, actually I do know: it's because of their covers, especially those of the german translations. They almost always show a detail of a picture/portray of a more or less beautiful woman, preferably deeply in thoughts. I don't know. Makes me wanna puke. I heartly detest books that are promoted under the label of "women's lit", I really do. Nobody ever thought of pointing out special men's books. But before I go on ranting about feminist issues not worth the breat or webspace I just tell you that I like what I read. Miss Munro. ANd once again I must say: I love short stories, they are by far my favorite genre. Or form, rather, of literature. To me it is perfect to be able to read something top to bottom in one setting. It gets me most. Does that make sense? I don't know. A good short story make me happy. I feel elated, or adventurous or something stupid like that. And like writing. What I will do now, because I'm snowed in anyway. Sun comes out. It's reall nice and bright outside. Maybe I'll have to go to the park, too...
