Polar Bear Blues
IMDB is reporting the death of the guy who took care of baby polarbear Knut in a zoo in Berlin. That is astounding, or is it just me? Isn't it supposed to be a site about movies and the like? That bear isn't cute anymore, it looks now like any other polar bear which is - strange. Their necks are too long for example. And his keeper never was cute/interesting/worth a word in the news other than he took care of that bear. Which was nice I guess (and even about that you could argue. About the general idea of raising wild animals with the bottle) but it's been a while and Iam surprised that this is international news. CNN had it, too. I have a notion that people in the western societies care too much about animals. Which might sound weird here, since we are talking about a dead man. BUT nobody would have reported in the US (or any foreign country) if he had been the foster father to some human baby, however cute the baby might have been. Yes. You might argue that there are more human babies to be fostered, and that it is such a special thing. But it works in so many cases. PETA! I loath the animal rights activists so much! And I do like animals, they should not be tortured, they should not suffer. I am no vegeterian, but I only eat very little meat, only eggs that are from hens that live on organic-farms. I think it is important to take care of nature and animals the like. But if all these animal rights activists would spend half the time and money on human rights - or only childrensrights if they want to help the truly helpless - (I hate to say that now:) the world would be a better place. That said I go back to my bed. I'm having a bad cold.
