"so go plug in your electric blanket"

I bought a used copy of the dvd of the Alkaline Trio Halloween Show at the Metro in Chicago today, and it reminded me of why I like them so much. I don't care if Matt Skiba practices yoga now and if it makes him all calm and happy. I don't care about the type of label they are on. Their new record may not be better than sort of okay. I love their old stuff and I will cherish the songs and be grateful that they did what they did. Maybe they are too happy and settled now to write really great stuff. Or the songs I want to listen and can relate to. Good for them. As long as they still play the old songs I don't mind.
It's just intersting to see how art changes with the lifes of its creators. Not really surprising though. i know lots of examples. I decided not to be bitter. I just hope to become a happier person soon myself. And maybe that's the kind of music I need then - the happier Alkaline Trio or Tomte or whatever. As for now I'll mostly stick to the music written before these people could really make a living out of their stuff....
